Labels can stay on bottles and jars.
Leftover wax is okay in candle jars.
Windows, shower doors, and glass tabletops must:
- Have frames, bases, and hardware removed.
- Fit through the 3’x3’ windows on the purple bins. If they don’t, contact Ripple Glass for instructions on how to drop them off at its processing facility.

Recycling cans, paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, and glass is free to all residents in the Kansas City metro area (you do not have to live in Lee's Summit).
All other accepted items have associated fees.
Does not pay for any items accepted.
Paper cups - Coffee and soda cups. Coffee sleeves are recyclable. Discard lids, straws and stirs.
Plastic to-go cups - #1 and #5 only. Discard lids, straws and stirs.
Compressed gas cylinders (fire extinguishers, propane, oxygen, helium, etc.) - Only accepts 1 lb. propane camp stove tanks through Household Hazardous Waste program. DOES NOT ACCEPT any other type of compressed gas cylinders.
Glass - No TVs, mirrors, light bulbs, windshields/safety glass, fiberglass, or these glass-like items: ceramic, china, porcelain, milk glass, Pyrex, Corningware, Corelle.
Holiday lights - Not accepted: pre-lit yard decorations or artificial trees and greenery.
Holiday trees - Natural trees and greenery only. Remove lights, decorations, plastic bags, and stands.
Large appliances - DOES NOT ACCEPT refrigerated appliances (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc.).
Lawn mowers - Only if all fluids have been completely drained beforehand.
