Propane Tanks
To exchange a propane tank, place empty tank beside propane tank display and see store to acquire full tank. To recycle a propane tank that you no longer need, write “RECYCLE” on the tank and place it beside the display. It will be picked up and recycled.

Food Waste - Free service for KCMO residents only. Non-KCMO residents can participate in KC Can Compost's metro-wide program. Using the Smart Can:
- Collect your food scraps and paper waste in 2-gallon compostable liners. You can find liners in KC Can Compost's supply shop. Note: Smart Cans are intended for use with 2-gal (or smaller) bags only.
- Download the Big Belly Smart Compost App.
- Within 10 feet of the Smart Can, open the app and click the “Unlock” button to unlock the can.
- Use the handle or foot pedal to open the hopper.
- Place your tied-off liners into the can, one at a time.
- Release the handle and/or foot pedal and the Smart Can will re-lock.

Cardboard Boxes - Flatten before recycling.
Glass - No windows, plate glass, TVs, mirrors, light bulbs, windshields/safety glass, fiberglass, or any of these glass-like items: ceramic, china, porcelain, milk glass, Pyrex, Corningware, Corelle.
Holiday Lights - Does not accept pre-lit yard decorations or artificial trees and greenery.
Plastic Buckets - Must be no bigger than 5 gal. Metal handles must be removed.
Toner & Ink Cartridges - Only able to accept OEM toner and inkjet cartridges.
Lawn Mowers - Must be drained of gas and oil. If possible, remove and discard non-metal parts.
