Hazardous Waste:
- Leavenworth, Kans. residents only.
- No appointment required if individual has less than 10 liquid gallons of HHW.
- Appointment required if an individual has greater than 10 liquid gallons of HHW.
- Accepts waste from businesses that are Small Quantity Generators. Businesses include: for-profits, nonprofits, churches, schools, home-based businesses, and rental property owners. More info>>
- Does NOT accept: asbestos, biological waste, controlled substances, explosives, prescription drugs, medical waste, and smoke detectors.
Holiday lights - Does not accept lights embedded in yard decorations or artificial trees and greenery.
Holiday trees - Natural holiday trees and greenery. Must remove all plastic and metal components such as lights, decorations, plastic bags and stands. Accepted Dec. 1, 2024 – Jan. 31, 2025 only.
Large appliances - Provides refrigerant removal from dehumidifiers, air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, etc.
Lawn mowers - All fluids must be completely drained.
Plastic Bags and Film:
The following types of bags and film are NOT recyclable:

• Snack bags & wrappers (chips, candy, etc.)
• Pouches (cheese, tuna, trail mix, etc.)
• Foil coffee bags
• Frozen food bags
• Pet food bags
• Floral wrap (cellophane)
