7/03/2018 | From Found to Fun!

Mesner Puppet Theater is offering "From Found to Fun! Turning Everyday Objects into Puppets." This summer camp/workshop is for children in 1st-3rd grades, and takes place July 9-13 (9 a.m.-noon each day). The fee for the camp is $130. Register during the week of July 2 for a 20% discount!

10/20/2018 | Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection Event - Jackson County/Grain Valley

Jackson County and Grain Valley will jointly host a mobile collection event for household hazardous waste on October 20. The event will be held at the Jackson County Public Works facility located on Old 40 Highway. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon and is open to members of participating communities. 10/20/2018 | Electronics Collection Event - Independence

The 1st MidAmerica Credit Union is hosting an electronics collection event on Saturday, October 20, from 9:00 am to noon at 19301 East Valley View Parkway in Independence. Most items are free, but there are fees for CRT monitors/TVs, LCD/LED TVs, console or rear projection TVs and Freon containing appliances. Full list of fees is available here.

10/27/2018 | Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event - Lake Lotawana

Lake Lotawana, along with Lone Jack and Greenwood, will jointly host a mobile collection event for household hazardous waste. The event will be held on October 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church located at 28901 County Hwy 8-S (commonly known as N.E. Colbern Road).
