HHW Collection Facilities

Missouri residents who live in participating communities can take their household hazardous waste (HHW) at no cost to either of the following HHW facilities. Please note when appointments are required. ID and proof of residency are required.

Kansas City, Missouri Facility

Facility accepts:  

automotive products, antifreeze, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs (Tube and CFL), fertilizers, flammables, fuels, hazardous cleaners, hazardous liquids, household cleaners, lawn and garden products, paint, pesticides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, thinners, used oil

Facility does not accept:   explosives, yard waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders, asbestos, tires, appliances
Hours:   Thu. and Fri. 9 a.m.–6 p.m.,
Sat. 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
No appointment required.
Who can bring waste:



 
 

No charge for residents of Regional HHW Collection Program. Must bring ID with proof of residency. Fees can no longer be accepted at the KC facility or at mobile events from residents of non-participating communities, however they may still access the Lee’s Summit facility for a fee.

Facility accepts:   automotive products, antifreeze, batteries (lead-acid and rechargeable only), fluorescent light bulbs (tube and CFL), fertilizers, flammables, fuels, hazardous cleaners, hazardous liquids, household cleaners, lawn and garden products, paint, pesticides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, thinners, used oil
Facility does not accept:   explosives, yard waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders, asbestos, tires, appliances, single-use batteries (AA, C cell, 9-volt, button, etc.)
Hours:   HHW Saturday Events: Open April through November on the first Saturday of each month. An appointment is required. There is a 100-pound limit per visit. The service is free for Regional HHW Collection Program members, $50 fee for non-members.

New Daily Service: The facility now accepts antifreeze, motor oil, and paint for $1/gallon and batteries for $1/pound, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm and Saturday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm from any resident. This service is separate from the Regional HHW Collection Program.

No charge for residents of Regional HHW Collection Program for the first Saturday of the month service. Must bring ID with proof of residency. Non-members may use the daily and Saturday services for a fee.
