The first mobile collection event for household hazardous waste will be held on April 4 in Independence. The event takes place on the corner of Walnut and Liberty streets near the Independence Square from 9 am to 1 pm. The event is open to members of participating communities. Recycle FEST will be held on April 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Hall parking lot (220 SE Green Street). The City of Shawnee is once again partnering with the City of Merriam to bring you a fantastic recycling opportunity just in time for spring cleaning! The event will be held on April 18, 2015 in the Splash Cove Parking lot (58th and King). The event will include electronics recycling, document shredding, a bike collection and a latex paint collection event. More information is available on the Shawnee website.
The 2015 Northland Recycling Extravaganza will be held on April 25 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at 6305 NW Riverpark Drive (off Highway 9 between Riverside and Parkville). Some of the items to be collected this year include: oil and anti-freeze, car and NiCad batteries, automobile tires (4 tire limit/no rims), scrap metal, tennis balls, and bikes. The event offers an opportunity to recycle more materials than ever before including fluorescent bulgs, garden tools and gently used shoes.
