Kansas City, Missouri is hosting a Hard to Recycle Collection Event on May 7 from 8 am to 12 pm. The event will be held at the Manuel Tech Career Center (1320 Truman Road). If you live in the city, this is your opportunity to donate household goods, furniture, bikes and building materials to Disabled Veterans, Avenue of Life, Revolve and Truman Habitat ReStore. Surplus Exchange will collect electronics and on-site document shredding (up to five bags) will be available. The city also will collected waste tires, batteries, oil, paint and antifreeze.

Parkville will host an electronics recycling event on May 10. The event will run from 2:30-5:30 p.m. (or until the truck is full) and will be held at city hall (8880 Clark Avenue). A variety of electronic items including computers and related equipment, cell phones, pagers, radios, speakers, VCRs, DVD players, fax machines, stereos, non-PCB ballast, furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, microwaves and power tools will be accepted. Kitchen appliances and other items using electricity or batteries will also be accepted. A fee will be charged to recycle TVs: $20 for those smaller than 27 inches and $40 for 28 inches or more.
